Rossi: Yes The E-Cat X Produces Electricity Directly

The latest version of Andrea Rossi’s e-cat low energy nuclear reaction (LENR) device could produce electricity without mechanical means. The inventor himself made that claim on his blog on December 26, 2015.

“Here is the big news: yes, the E-Cat X produces directly electric power,” Rossi wrote to a correspondent named James Watt. “We are working to harness and make it work.”

What this means is that the E-Cat X works more like a fuel cell than a generator. Most electricity is made by generators where an engine or a turbine turns a generator that makes the electricity. In fuel cells like the ones now available in cars such as the Toyota Mirai, electricity is produced directly by an electrochemical reaction.

This is exciting news because it could greatly reduce the size, cost and complexity of the devices. Instead of having two devices a reactor to make heat and steam and a turbine to make electricity there would be just one device. That would lower production costs and maintenance costs because there would be less that could go wrong.

It also means it would be far easier to adapt LENR devices for uses such as powering trains or automobiles. An LENR device could take the place of batteries in electric cars like the Tesla and hydrogen-powered fuel cells in vehicles such as the Mirai.

Another use would to be to replace pollution-generating diesel engines in railroad locomotives. That make could make trains more efficient because they would no longer have to carry fuel and allow for electric trains without powerlines and other infrastructure. Among other things that would make it cheaper and easier to construct high-speed rail lines because there would be no powerlines. That would also make such systems less vulnerable to weather, natural disasters, system failures, blackouts and sabotage.

Current generation electric trains like Germany's ICE require power lines for operation.

Other uses could be to power homes and businesses, industrial equipment, agricultural equipment, earthmoving machines, mining machines, construction machines, weapons systems for the military, ships, aircraft including drones and helicopters, robots and space probes.

Obviously there’s a lot we don’t know here including the amount of electricity it generates, the cost of operation, the coefficient of power (COP), the size of the device and the amount of fuel it burns. Another potential problem is heat, because some fuel cells run very hot.

One has to wonder if other LENR researchers including Russia’s Alexander G. Parkhomov will soon be able to duplicate the E-Cat X and its ability to make electricity. It has been a year since Parkohomov revealed his duplication of another Rossi’s devices the hot E-cat to the world.

Hopefully Rossi will soon make evidence verifying this claim public. That way researchers can ascertain if this is a practical effect that can be duplicated and harnessed or just another fantastic statement from Andrea Rossi.

  • Its established that surprising bonus heat flows from an input to ECAT with surprising temperature capability , this heat might be employed to PREHEAT both combustion air and feed water to a conventional power plant which might then be upgraded to SUPERCRITICAL operation with new steam generators and additional high temperature HP turbines ahead of the existing ones in the cascade.

      Strange how you know how the e-cat operates when Rossi won’t reveal any details of it. My guess is that Rossi has not yet created a stable reaction needed to operate those yet. Although he may be close.
